Discussing Health Preservation in Winter

Winter is a season with a high incidence of diseases. To care for the health of the elderly, improve their health awareness and self-care ability, and popularize traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) health care knowledge for the middle-aged and elderly in the community during winter, on the morning of December 16, the first session of "TCM Healthcare into Communities" organized by Chuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic kicked off in Tianning Community! Chief Physician of Internal Medicine, Associate Chief TCM Physician Zhu Yuejiao, and Attending TCM Physician & Physiotherapist Cao Xianfu gave lectures on TCM health care knowledge for winter to the middle-aged and elderly.

Director Zhu Yuejiao introduced the TCM concept of "preventing diseases before they occur" to the audience. Combining the characteristics of winter health preservation, she explained from the aspects of daily living, reasonable diet, exercise, and medication, emphasizing the importance of physical exercise and mental adjustment for maintaining health. Meanwhile, she pointed out some misunderstandings in winter health preservation and taught correct health preservation methods. She put forward different conditioning plans for different physical constitutions and taught various health preservation therapies on site. The knowledge was simplified, hoping that residents could practically gain some daily knowledge and apply it in life. The residents present listened attentively, stating that such health lectures were very much in line with their needs and that they had benefited a lot.

After the health preservation class, free medical consultations began, and everyone participated enthusiastically. First, the staff of Chuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic measured blood pressure for community residents free of charge and informed them of their blood pressure status based on the results. Then, residents raised their questions to Director Zhu Yuejiao and Physician Cao Xianfu, who patiently answered various questions about disease prevention and treatment with TCM. The clinic also presented small gifts as winter consolation, making everyone feel warm. The atmosphere at the scene was harmonious, and the high enthusiasm made the "cold winter" particularly "heart-warming".

"I'm so lucky to meet such excellent TCM experts. I got free medical consultation and learned knowledge! Seeing such cheerful, kind, and inspiring doctors as Dr. Zhu and Dr. Cao, I feel that my long-term illness can be cured," a 62-year-old aunt said with a smile during the free consultation, repeatedly praising the activity for benefiting the people and giving us a thumbs-up.

This activity of senior TCM doctors entering the community not only enabled the general residents to further understand the popular science knowledge of TCM healthcare culture, recognize the concepts of TCM in preventing diseases before they occur and health preservation but also helped them master self-care abilities. It also further expanded the social influence of TCM healthcare, making TCM healthcare better benefit the people!
