The golden autumn brings cool breezes and the sweet fragrance of osmanthus. As the Double Ninth Festival approaches, to carry forward the traditional Chinese virtues of respecting, honoring, caring for and assisting the elderly, a public welfare activity themed "Full of Love on Double Ninth Festival, Warmth Spreads in Lutang" was warmly launched in Luyi Village, Lutang, Dongfang Town, Jinyun County on the morning of October 22, 2025.

Hosted by Lishui Red Cross Society and Lishui New Social Stratum Association, co-organized by Chuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Center and Lishui Aier Eye Hospital, and undertaken by Sanbao Branch of Lishui New Social Stratum Association, this activity aimed to send festival greetings and tangible health care to the elderly in the village.

The activity kicked off promptly at 9 a.m. The scene was filled with a warm and lively atmosphere. Volunteers provided enthusiastic guidance, and the elderly wore big smiles on their faces. Focusing on villagers aged 60 and above, especially the advanced-aged, empty-nest and disadvantaged elderly, the activity was expected to benefit around 360 seniors.

Health Services, Sincere Care

A number of public welfare service stations were set up on-site to provide comprehensive health care for the elderly:

Basic Health Checks: Volunteers carefully measured blood pressure and blood glucose for the elderly, helping them keep track of their physical conditions in a timely manner.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Consultation and Physiotherapy: Experts from Chuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Center gave play to the distinctive advantages of TCM, providing professional TCM consultations, physical constitution assessments and simple massage physiotherapy services for the elderly, as well as popularizing TCM health preservation knowledge.

Eye Health Screenings: Medical staff from Lishui Aier Eye Hospital conducted professional visual acuity tests and fundus examinations for the elderly, offering consultations and suggestions on common age-related eye diseases.

Resource Connection, Warmth Transmission

In addition to on-site health services, the activity also strived to build a bridge of resources. It introduced relevant Red Cross relief policies, the ongoing service programs of the TCM center and the diagnosis and treatment resources of the eye hospital to the elderly, letting them know where to seek help when encountering difficulties and continuously passing on the care of society.

Love Abounds on Double Ninth Festival, Warmth Touches Hearts

This activity themed "Full of Love on Double Ninth Festival, Warmth Spreads in Lutang" not only presented health gifts to the elderly for the Double Ninth Festival with practical actions and created a strong social atmosphere of respecting the elderly, but also demonstrated the good image of the organizing, co-organizing and undertaking units in serving the society and dedicating love.

Though the sun sinks in the west, its glow still paints the sky in splendor. We hope that through such activities, the custom of respecting and honoring the elderly will become increasingly prevalent, and every elderly person can feel the warmth and care of society, enjoying a healthy and happy old age.
